CT scan

A CT (computed tomography) scan provides detailed cross‑sectional images that help diagnose fractures, tumors, nasal and spinal disease, and other complex conditions that are hard to see on plain radiographs. Patients are typically placed under general anesthesia so the scan can be completed safely. Before the procedure, veterinarians usually perform a physical exam and may run blood tests to evaluate heart, liver, and kidney function to reduce anesthetic risk. During the scan the patient is positioned on a motorized table that moves through the scanner while a trained team continuously monitors vital signs (ECG, blood pressure, oxygenation, and ventilation) following professional anesthesia and monitoring guidelines to minimize complications. Afterward, patients are observed until they are fully awake and stable; owners should expect post‑anesthetic discharge instructions.
